Bréguet 273 in Venezuelan Service
The Bréguet 270 and 273 saw limited service with the Venezuelan military aviation arm during the 1930s. Acquired from France at a time when Venezuela was modernising its air force, the type gave the service a contemporary two-seat reconnaissance and light-bomber aircraft. It offered useful range and observation capability for patrol, mapping, and liaison work over Venezuela’s varied terrain. Venezuelan aircraft included export Bréguet 273 versions, a reconnaissance-bomber development of the basic 270 series. By international standards the design aged quickly, especially as faster monoplanes appeared, but in Venezuelan service it represented an important step beyond earlier training and utility aircraft.
