Sud-Est SE.2410 Grognard

Sud-Est SE.2410 Grognard

First flying on 30 April 1950, the Sud-Est SE.2410 Grognard was designed as a ground attack aircraft for the French Armée de l’Air. The initial prototype SE.2410 was a single seat aircraft with 47o swept wings powered by two stacked Nene jet engines. The engines were fed from a single dorsal intake, resulting in the forward fuselage taking on a bulbous appearance.

The second prototype, SE.2415 added a second crewman, reduced the wing angle to 32o and raised the cockpit while adding a bubble canopy.

Changing Armée de l’Air requirements eliminated the requirement for an attack aircraft and its role was filled by the Sud-Ouest Vautour II.
