Endem German Light Cruiser
Commissioned in October 1925, Emden was a light cruiser and the only ship of her class. Used primarily as a training sip between the wars, she made voyages to the Americas and Far East. During World War Two, she was again used for training, with interruptions for mine laying and support of the army. She participated in the invasion of Norway in 1940. While in Kiel in 1945, she was damaged by British bombers and run aground to prevent her sinking. She was later blown up by her crew to prevent her capture.
