French Aircraft Carrier Joffre

French Aircraft Carrier Joffre

Joffre was laid down on 18 November 1938, but the start of World War II led to a slow down in construction and then cessation in June 1940 as the country capitulated to the German invasion. The ship was 28% complete when France capitulated. Work on Joffre was not continued by the Germans and the hull was scrapped.
