Memorial Plaques Pathway of Honour Adelaide

Pathway of Honour Adelaide

Pathway of Honour

The Pathway of Honour commemorates the military service of South Australians. Along the avenue are bronze and stone plaques, most of which commemorate military units, regiments, and particular battles or campaigns. Some also honour specific branches of service or community contributions to war efforts. This reflects the tradition of unit pride and collective memory that has long been central to military culture. The pathway starts on King William Street with the Defence Women Of South Australia Monument then follows the wall of Government House to Kintore Avenue and the Dardanelles Memorial. From here, the Military theme continues with the Anzac Centenary Memorial Walk which goes along Kintore Avenue to the National War Memorial.

Walking along the pathway, you pass plaques dedicated to South Australian battalions that served on the Western Front during the First World War, to units engaged in the Second World War campaigns in North Africa and the Pacific, and to more recent service in Korea, Vietnam, and peacekeeping missions.
