Werrimull Mobile Silo Art Victoria

The Werrimull Mobile Silo Art lies along Millewa Road near the township of Werrimull in north-western Victoria. The site was completed in August 2023 by artists Jimmy Dvate and Justin Fennelseed in collaboration with the local community.

The work forms part of the broader Australian Silo Art Trail, which links rural towns across Australia through large-scale mural artworks painted on grain silos and other structures.

In this work the chosen theme is “Local Flora & Fauna”. The artists depict creatures such as the budgerigar, the Major Mitchell cockatoo (pink cockatoo), the Mallee ringneck parrot, echidna, little eagle and emu. Each of the two silos has three images for a total of six.

This demonstrates how rural towns can harness art to encourage visitors to visit their area. We took a detour off the Sturt Highway from Renmark to Mildura to see the silos. This only added 15 minutes to the trip (from 1.5 to 1.75 hours), increasing it from 138km to 160km. This was certainly worth the detour as the artwork is wonderful.
