Hawker F.20/27 Fighter
Designed as an interceptor, the Hawker F.20/27 competed against Armstrong Whitworth Starling II, Bristol Bullpup, de Havilland DH.77, Fairey Firefly II, Saunders A.10, Vickers Jockey and the Westland Interceptor. None of these were selected and the specification was withdrawn.
Hawker designed a follow on design with a V-12 inline engine, the Hawker Fury. This proved to be around 10% faster than the similarly sized F.20/27. Although later fitted with a Bristol Mercury VI, no further development work was undertaken on the F.20/27.
