With the conquest of Malay and the Netherlands East Indies, Japanese forces captured at least eight Brewster B-339 and Buffalo aircraft intact, in addition to numerous wrecked aircraft. Several of these were painted in Japanese markings and evaluated in Japan, while others were displayed as war trophies.
