Supermarine Speed Spitfire

The Supermarine Speed Spitfire K9834 was a Spitfire Mk.I modified for a world record speed attempt. The success of the Heinkel He 100 and Messerschmitt Bf 209 in achieving 463 mph and 469 mph respectively, both in excess of the planned Spitfire’s speed resulted in the project being dropped.
